WOODCARVING - FROM SPOON TO SPORK

WOODCARVING: FROM SPOON TO SPORK

Explore the age-old craft of spoon carving and beyond! This 6 week class will begin with spoon carving and quickly transition into other carved and useful objects of the home. Spatulas, sporks, tongs, ladles, chopsticks, and more! Students will use pre-cut templates and design their own shapes to carve out. Focusing on safety and technique, students will use tools such as spokeshaves, carving gouges, knives, files, and rasps to safely shape and form their objects. After shaping we will discuss sanding and finishing techniques that will be applied to each piece. Everyone will have a chance to take something home that they are proud of! This class includes ample time to finish multiple pieces

Wood carving is a physically demanding craft. You will be engaging your whole body as well as your hand-eye coordination. Carving requires your full attention and is a great way to quiet and calm the mind.

Beginners welcome! No woodworking experience necessary. All tools and materials provided. Closed toed shoes are required.
