Join us for this beginner level screen printing workshop. We will trace images and do a screen and then expose them using the sun or light box. Once we have our screen, we can print it on almost anything! We will provide some cotton cloth and a tote bag. leave with a piece of art, something functional and some new friends!

Needle Punch Patch:

Needle punch is a yarn craft that is easy to learn, repetitive enough to use for meditation, and a wonderful outlet for creativity! Needle punching is heavy on texture and color, allowing for an endless designs and concepts. In this class, you will learn to needle punch using a small embroidery design then turn your small masterpiece into a usable patch to iron onto your clothes for a punch of personality! If patches aren’t your thing, the small piece can also be made into a brooch with a pin backing. Either way, you will have a small piece you can add to your clothing. These patches/brooches use cotton embroidery thread so once you learn the technique, you’ll be off and running with your own designs! Who wouldn’t want to fill up their wardroe with these little pieces of art?

Getting the Shot: Mastering Smartphone Photography - Smartphones are great tools for photographers but knowing how to maximize their potential is key to getting the shots you want. This 2-hr class will touch on the basics of great photography, tailored for using a smartphone to capture your images. Through a hands-on approach, students will create and photograph various scenes using tips, editing techniques, and creative applications shared by the instructor. By applying what they learn, the students will develop skills necessary for great smartphone images every time. This class is designed for beginners and those with basic knowledge of photography on a smartphone.

Please make sure to bring a fully charged smartphone.

Enjoy poetry in 3-D! Join us as we explore fun and fluid play with watercolor and words through haiku. You'll be guided to paint, then create a cube and design it with your own original poetry, and illumination. Poems will come from your own life experiences. Haiku is an easy pattern of 5 syllables in the first line, 7 syllables in the second line and 5 syllables in the third line. Easy to do! No experience needed. Family Studio Sundays are free workshops for military-connected families with children - including National Gaurd and Reserve families - to create together and take home the craft on the same day. Slow Stitch/Stitch Meditations:

The slow stitch movement has been a recent trend among crafters who love textiles and stitchwork by hand. This craft focuses on the process of slowing down to enjoy the moment. While one sits and stitches, thoughts can easily come and go while a focus on the present moment of creativity in your hands is a singular priority. Escape your day, your worries, and more by simply redirecting your focus. When you are finished you have a remarkable piece of tactile and textile art.

In this class, students will be provided some basic instruction to get started with supplies to create a 12” x 12” piece of fabric collage. The instructor will show students how to use basic stitches to adhere fabric and embellishments onto the base fabric.
