RECON: A New Series of Targeted Resource Connection Events

The Joel Fund’s RECON: A New Series of Targeted Resource Connection Events for Veterans

Wake Forest, NC — The Joel Fund is excited to share a new series of resource-connection events for veterans and their families, RECON. Kicking off the series, the first RECON, focusing on Veterans Benefits, will take place on Saturday, June 14, at The Joel Fund (822 S. White St, Wake Forest, NC). These events are free to attend, and breakfast and coffee will be provided.

This new format reimagines The Joel Fund’s annual resource fair, offering a more focused and accessible experience for community members. Each bi-monthly RECON event will dive into one critical social determinant of health on a rotating schedule, ensuring attendees can easily find and engage with the specific support they need.

The first RECON event on June 14 will be focused on Veterans Benefits, bringing together key organizations to provide direct assistance and information. Attendees will have the valuable opportunity to connect with representatives from the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) and Wake County Veterans Services. These experts will be on hand to discuss a wide range of benefits, including disability compensation, education programs, VA home loans, pension programs, and more, offering both individual and group discussions in a collaborative setting.

The 2025-2026 RECON schedule is as follows:

  • June 14 – Veterans Benefits
  • August 16 – Healthcare
  • October 18 – Supportive Services
  • December 20 – Social Enrichment
  • February 21 – Employment
  • April 18 – Education

The Joel Fund encourages all veterans and their families to mark their calendars for these impactful Saturday morning events. Military-connected individuals may register to attend by visiting https://www.thejoelfund.org/recon/.
