Different genres make up 99% of popular stories today! This fun class (for all levels of writers including those just starting their creative journey) will explore what makes genres (mysteries, thrillers, horror, young adult, romance, historical narratives, and adventure stories to name a few) attract huge readership! We’ll examine the elements that define each genre as well as experiment with specific genre forms to help you develop a stronger sense of your voice as a writer. Offering a safe, supportive online group environment, the class welcomes veterans, current active duty, and reserve members of the armed forces as well as veteran caregivers and immediate adult military family members. Have you completed a draft of a work and want to know how best to complete and move it forward? This class is for you! Focusing on a work you’ve drafted (fiction, nonfiction, plays, and/or poetry), participants will delve into sharpening the building blocks of scene structure, character development, language and plot as well as establish clear goals to progress the work. The class will also offer tips on the business aspects of publishing, marketing and promotion – the practical knowledge needed to move a work out into the world! Offering a safe, supportive online group environment, the class welcomes veterans, current active duty, and reserve members of the armed forces as well as veteran caregivers and immediate adult military family members.

The class is open to individuals who have previously taken a TJF writing class or with permission of instructor. Recommended class reading: The Essential Guide to Getting Your Book Published by Arielle Eckstut and David Henry Sterry.
