SONGWRITING

Expressing Yourself Through the Voice of Music – This course explores the art and craft of songwriting. The focus is on the fundamentals of songwriting, both from the creation of lyrics to express the thoughts, feelings, and emotions of the songwriter, as well as the music necessary to propel the songwriter’s written poetry into a musical form. This course is for all levels of songwriters, from the novice to the experienced. Students learn the foundations and structures of songwriting through analysis and application. This course is hands-on, as the only way to learn songwriting is by doing, making mistakes, and redoing. The business of songwriting will be addressed. No musical experience is required as some songwriters are lyricists, i.e., writers of words, others are composers, i.e., writers of music, while still others will do both. If you ever wanted to release that inner songwriting self, this is the course for you.
