This basic drawing course is a continuation of the Drawing 1 course. Students will practice drawing from direct observation using pencil, charcoal, conte crayon, pen/ink, and colored pencil. The students will study the use of line, shape, value, cross-contour, proportion, and gesture to accurately draw simple and progressively more complex forms. Students will work from still-life arrangements, photographs, and from nature using a combination of linear perspective, value, and mark-making to create the illusion of 3-dimensional images on 2-dimensional surfaces. This course is a good foundation of drawing and composition in preparation of upper-level drawing, printmaking, and painting courses. Previous drawing experience preferred but not required.
